Ortak joins GIJN
Jun 1 2026
Ortak – Independent Newsroom for Investigative Journalists has been accepted as a member organization of the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN).
Bringing together investigative journalism centers, newsrooms, and journalism organizations from around the world, GIJN is a global network that works to strengthen investigative journalism, expand the exchange of knowledge and experience among journalists, and support cross-border collaboration.
Ortak’s GIJN membership is an important part of our goal to strengthen public-interest investigative journalism in Turkey, create a space for collaboration among independent journalists and newsrooms, and produce investigations that make complex power structures visible.
At Ortak, we continue to develop evidence-based, long-form, and collaborative investigations in areas such as environmental justice, energy, mining, corruption, organized crime, and conflict. Through our GIJN membership, we aim to connect Turkey’s investigative journalism experience more strongly with international networks, while also strengthening our work through global knowledge, methods, and solidarity.
We hope this membership will help strengthen Ortak’s international collaborations and contribute to the capacity of investigative journalism in Turkey.
